Creating a New Artifact

You create a new artifact when you want to submit a map file into MapLibrary.NET.

To create a new artifact, you must be logged into the system with a user having Administrator, Supervisor, or Archiver security level. See the Logging on procedure for detailed instructions.

Follow the steps below in sequential order to create a new artifact.

The ARCHIVER WORK LIST page displays.

Review the Archiver Work list illustration below. This illustration depicts an empty worklist.  Once you create an artifact it displays in your work list (Archiver Work List).  The artifact remains in your work list until you submit it for approval. You might still be gathering information to complete the artifact. For example, there might be a last minute change on your artifact and you are waiting for that change before you submit it for approval.

An artifact may reappear in your work list if your supervisor has rejected your submission. Reasons for rejection might be due to incompleteness, you forgot to attach your file, or your submission is inaccurate.

The SUBMIT ARTIFACT page displays.  You create an artifact by specifying a combination of required and optional field attributes.  All required field attributes are marked with  red asterisks.

For purposes of illustrating this procedure, the Artifact Type "Map" is selected. The attributes listed in this illustration are the system default fields.

If the field attributes for your Map Artifact Type differ from the ones listed in this illustration, your System Administrator has customized these attributes to meet your business needs.  Contact your System Administrator for further details.

Once the Artifact has been created, The SUBMIT ARTIFACT window will display with the auto-generated Artifact ID at the top of the page.  You may Update the Artifact to add additional files or make changes to the attribute fields, or Submit for Approval.
